The Lady Chargers (11-3) beat the Nampa Christian Trojans Tuesday night. Starting off first quarter with a three-pointer by Veeck, the girls continued scoring and playing excellent defense. After struggling to regain possession, Khoury added a blocked shot and a layup, making the score 7-0. Caven, Fraas, and Cooke added points that led to a first quarter score of 19-8. Second quarter started off rough, with the Chargers getting into early foul trouble. Only three points were scored by Kingery, Khoury, and Veeck at the free-throw line. The Trojans fought back into the game, ending the first half 22-17.
Third quarter continued the same way second had, with the game becoming more physical and the foul count growing. A few shots led the Trojans to the first lead-change. Khoury made a corner three, and Scudder had an assist, putting the Chargers back on top. The Trojans responded, and both teams fought to lead for the rest of the quarter. Third quarter ended 33-33.
For nearly the first two minutes of fourth quarter, neither team scored, but both Cooke and Veeck added blocked shots. Veeck and Fraas added points, and the Chargers led by seven with under five minutes to go. Both teams were in bonus with two minutes remaining, and the Trojans made some key shots and free throws to put them within two points of the Chargers. Krogh then sunk both free throws at the line, cementing the Chargers’ lead. For the remaining minute and a half, only one free throw was made to come to an end score of 44-39.
